There is nothing more pure in life than mountains, streams and rivers, nature’s own backyard. For all of you who love the outdoors, you know that in order to get the most out of the adventure you need the right gear. For hikers and backpackers, it’s about finding the supplies needed to make it out in the great outdoors.
The List of Gear:
Backpacks
An obvious need if you are going on a mountain trek into the wilderness for a few days, or a few weeks. It is a piece of hiking backpacking gear that is essential to carry all of your supplies without breaking your back and your wallet. One suggestion would be going to REI or GI Joes and finding a backpack that is suitable to your height, weight and trip length. For trips that last a few weeks, you may need a pack that can carry 60 pounds or more if needed. It should have chest and waist buckles, to help keep your load close to you. If you’re trip is only one day, than a simple day pack with a built-in water bag and drinking tube is needed.
Tents and Tarps
If you are planning to spend at least one night out in the woods, you will need a good tent or tarp to keep you dry while you sleep. If you want to conserve space, a tarp would be the best solution; as it is a hiking backpacking gear that is easy to fit on the outside of your backpack. It is also easy to put together, all you have to do is tie at least three ends of the tarp onto three trees within close proximity to one another. Wrap the string around the tree, and pull into a knot.
Food and Water
The most important hiking backpacking gear you could bring on your excursion. Spending a few days or weeks in the wilderness requires that you stay hydrated and nourished. Obviously you won’t have a cooler to pack with you, so you would have to rely on dried foods such as trail mix, cereal, grain, fruit, and beef jerky. You can also bring along a small pot and stove to cook your dinners in. As for water, make certain that when you get water from a stream, which you bring along a filter or diluted iodine to kill any bacteria that may be in it.
